Thanks for visiting our website.
It is designed to be informative and to help you understand a little bit more about us. The first thing you will notice is, obviously, we are a church. That is, we are not a country club, a government organization, a business, or some other type of institution. While not trying to ignore our culture, we are not trying to be hip, relevant, or cool. We are simply trying to read and understand God’s timeless Word and apply it to our daily lives. We do that because we believe that truth is not up for grabs in our post-modern world, and the only way to be rightly related to God, who is outside time and culture, is through His eternal, revealed Word.
That’s why we believe in teaching the Word of God in an expository manner. This simply means that we preach through Scripture verse by verse, and section by section. This type of preaching is the most effective way for us to understand God’s Word because:
- that’s the way God wrote it
- it’s the best way to ensure that we are hearing from God and not man
- it avoids doctrinal hobby-horses and shallow “proof-texting”
- it allows us to cover all subjects God wants us to know
Martin Luther said, “Languages are the scabbard that contains the sword of the Spirit, they are the case which contains the priceless jewels of antique thought, they are the vessel that holds the wine; and as the gospel says, they are the baskets in which the loaves and fishes are kept to feed the multitude.”
For those who will hear, the Bible is “living and active”, it can discern the difference between the “soul and the spirit” and it is able to “judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). The Bible is the very “breath of God” (2 Timothy 3:16) which brings edification, encouragement, and comfort to the believer and conviction to the non-believer (1 Corinthians 14:3, 24). But most importantly, the Bible explains the person and work of Jesus Christ, without whom we could never know God.
So thanks for visiting. We encourage you to peruse our website, especially the About Us section and the Ministries Section. We hope to meet you in person. If we can answer any questions for you, please contact us at 925.210.9036, or email us at info@northcreek.org.
