Family/Child Dedication - NorthCreek Church
Proverbs 22:6 "Train up a child in the way he should go,
even when he is old he will not depart from it."
Our Family/Child Dedication Handbook gives explanation to the baby dedication process at NorthCreek. Please pick one up in the Information Center or at the church office. A separate form is to be filled out to give testimony of understanding the handbook. It is also to reserve a place in the dedication service, which happens every three months at both of our Sunday services.
We require all parents who are interested in dedicating their child, to read the handbook, fill out their form and give it to the Children's Ministries Office, and then attend a meeting the Sunday before with the Director of Children's Ministries. The meeting will go over any questions that the parents have, and explain how the dedication portion of the service will be conducted the following week.
What do we commit to when we dedicate our child?
Dedication of your baby is a special time to declare before others that your child is given over to the Lord. As parents, you are committing yourselves in the presence of many witnesses to be the parents that God, through the Holy Spirit, will lead you to be. You have a desire for your child to one day make that personal commitment to Jesus Christ and to follow the Lord in a life of service for Him.
What dedicating your child does NOT mean:
The dedication of a baby does not guarantee a child's salvation, but is an opportunity for you to demonstrate your desire and willingness to teach your child the truths of God's Word that one day may lead to his/her salvation.
It is also not a baptism, because the Bible teaches that baptism is only for those who have personally accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior, which very young children cannot make yet.
With the blessing of a baby comes a tremendous responsibility for Christian parents. We are entrusted to raise our children in accordance to Biblical truth and point them to Jesus Christ. In light of this great responsibility, NorthCreek thinks of this dedication as a Family dedication.
Our next Dedication Orientation is August 3, with the dedication event Sunday, August 10. You must first read our small handbook, fill out an application and turn it in by August 1.
Please call (925) 210-9036, or write anytime if you have questions or would like the handbook and forms sent to you.
