YOU’RE INVITED TO ATTEND THE
CORNERSTONE FOR CHRISTIAN LIVING CLASS

Class takes place on Wednesday evenings beginning in September. Sign ups begin in August. You can sign up at the Biblical Counseling table (located near the cafe) after each service in August, or by contacting Darcy Pollard at 925.210.9036 or dpollard@northcreek.org.

Here's some information about the class:

WHO?

All ages may join, especially those…

  • Who want in-depth discipleship that includes optional homework of reading and application of Biblical principles as they apply to Anger and Forgiveness, Marriage and Parenting, Fear, Worry, Depression, and other Life Dominating Sins.
  • Who find themselves giving lots of advice and want some Biblical grounding for what they’re saying.
  • Who are receiving counseling and wish to supplement it.
  • Who are considering becoming a part of the NCC Biblical Counseling Ministry team of staff counselors.
  • Adults from other churches who desire to receive counselor training.

WHAT?

  • In-depth group discipleship; further counselor training available, but optional.
WHY?
  • Our God of all hope wants you to be filled with all joy and peace and to abound in hope (Romans 15:13). He wants you to be equipped to deal with the challenges of life from His perspective, in His way; and in turn, to be able to effectively help others in their spiritual walk (Colossians 1:28; 3:16; I Thessalonians 5:14; II Timothy 3:16,17).

WHERE?

  • NorthCreek Church campus, Rooms 119 and 120.

WHEN?

  • Each fall, beginning in September and continuing through the first week in May.
  • Class meets on Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30 p.m.
  • Childcare is usually available up through 6th grade. Our junior high program (grades 6 - 8) also meets during this time. Call for more details (925-210-9036).

HOW?

  • Led by Steve Mawhorter, Director of NCC Biblical Counseling Ministry, Certified Biblical Counselor (International Association of Biblical Counselors).
  • Using the Self-Confrontation Manual - Book I, from the Biblical Counseling Foundation. Purchase the text during sign-ups or at the first class meeting. Other supplementary materials will be made available.
CLASS LEVELS
  • Level 1: Auditing - Taking notes in provided outline, minimal reading
  • Level 2: Taking notes in provided outline, 1 - 2 hours of homework per week
  • Level 3: Taking notes in provided outline, supplemental reading, 8 - 10 hours of homework per week. (Usually taken by those who wish to become Biblical Counselors, in addition to Phase II counselor training held during the summer.)
