NorthCreek Church whole-heartedly believes in the sufficiency of Scripture. Therefore, we are committed to providing only Biblical counseling to our members and attendees and as an outreach to the community at large through our Biblical Counseling Ministry.
God wants us to be equipped to deal with the challenges of life from His perspective, in His way; and in turn, to be able to effectively help others in their spiritual walk (Colossians 1:28; 3:16;
1 Thessalonians 5:14; 2 Timothy 3:16, 17). The goal of our ministry is to lovingly come alongside believers to help them grow in faith, knowledge, and love for Jesus Christ on the journey of becoming conformed to His likeness (Romans 8:29).
The Biblical Counseling Ministry:
- Is based on the Bible alone for its source of wisdom (2 Peter 1:3,4; 2 Tim. 3:16-17).
- Was started at NorthCreek by Senior Pastor Jon McNeff and Steve Mawhorter in 1998.
- Is directed by Steve Mawhorter.
- As of Fall 2007, has twenty trained, volunteer lay counselors, five of whom are certified through the International Association of Biblical Counselors (IABC), and two more who are certified through the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors (NANC).
- Continues to educate its counselors by traveling throughout the US to conferences and seminars sponsored by like-minded groups such as The Biblical Counseling Foundation (BCF), Chrisitian Counseling & Education Foundation (CCEF), IABC, Institute for Biblical Counseling & Discipleship (IBCD), NANC, The Master’s College of Santa Clarita, CA, and Faith Baptist Church of Lafayette, IN.
- Has grown to have three spheres within its organization: General Biblical Counseling, a Pre-Marital Counseling adjunct, and the eight-month Cornerstone Class for Christian Living.
- Is supervised by the pastors and the Board of Elders, and is not licensed by the State of California.
- Offers counseling free of charge, and is conducted on the church premises.
We are currently offering counseling only to those who attend or are members at NorthCreek. For those that are attending or members, please be aware that due to the high demand for counseling there may be a waiting list. For more information about the Biblical Counseling Ministry or to make an appointment for counseling, please contact Kathy Preeg at 925-210-9036 or kpreeg@northcreek.org.
