What is the purpose?
Ministry of Construction is a belief that God has a vision for ministry growth during your building process. Christians often put aside plans for ministry growth and community outreach because of a building campaign. Rather than waiting for the dedication of a new building to enable us to build the Kingdom, we should begin today.
Keep in mind that each experience along the road to construction is an opportunity to expand our ministry in a new way. A building campaign is a long process, one that takes the church out of its normal circles of fellowship and into “the world.” As we share the vision with our future neighbors, seek donations within our community, work with subcontractors, meet with city planners, and prepare our church for building—we have unique opportunities to touch people's lives. People who were previously not connected to our church now know who we are. They know our organization in an intimate way because they've been a part of the building process.
Attenders who follow the Lord's leading throughout the building project also strengthen their spiritual walk. The community outreach, jobsite ministry, prayer campaign, and team structure all provide ways for us to become emotionally invested in our building program. The Ministry of Construction will change the spiritual lives of those involved.
Specific ways to get involved:
• Pray at the jobsite every day.
• Pray specifically and continuously for the construction crews.
• Share your church or school mission and vision with the workers.
• Continually thank, praise, and encourage workers daily.
• Host free lunches for the workers once each week.
• Ask your hospitality committee to serve coffee and donuts to the workers.
• Invite all of the workers to an appreciation event to recognize and thank them.
• Commit your teenagers to wash the construction workers' vehicles weekly.
• Pay your contractor and subcontractors on time.
• Resolve disputes BIBLICALLY.
You can be a part of all these things and more by joining one of the teams listed below.
TEAMS
Prayer Team: A team of volunteers praying for our building, finances, workers, staff, and time lines. They will also get to know our workers in an effort to build relationships.
Appreciation Team: A team of volunteers who say "Thank you" to those involved. Everyone likes to be thanked for their hard work. If you have an eye for noticing great things in people, this team is for you.
Publicity Team: A team of volunteers who link with local media outlets, take photos and video of the construction progress, and promote building project status while working with the NCC Publications Department.
Hospitality Team: A team of volunteers who share Christ's love through service to our workers. Coordinate meals and snacks and bake those cookies that everyone seems to love.
Construction Team: A team of volunteers who are not afraid to get their hands dirty.
Help stage materials, clean-up the site, and help with the landscaping. This is a great
team for those who desire to help build our building in a limited way.
