Can any student join a DG?

 Well... yes and no.

Rock DGs are for any junior high student who has a genuine desire to learn more about God and his/her relationship to Him. They also should want to live out their faith and participate in and enjoy the fellowship of other believers.

All junior high age students are welcome to come and participate in any Rock meeting or event as long as they are mature enough not to be a distraction or a stumbling block to others. We have a great but limited volunteer staff that desire to help students grow in their faith, but not to baby-sit them.

Again, DGs are for students who want to grow in their knowledge and love for their Heavenly Father and other brothers and sisters in Christ. But not every student at this age is emotionally, socially, or spiritually ready or prepared to do this.

As the name implies, students who participate should want to be discipled. Meaning that they come to learn and grow in their faith from more mature believers. Respect, honesty, and love are key ingredients for a healthy DG.

Of course, we're not expecting perfect students at this age, but students who do join a DG are expected to show some signs of maturity and self-control.

Every parent needs to examine and evaluate the heart and mind of their own son or daughter and determine if they're ready to participate in a DG.

Please Note: DGs are in no way to replace the parental responsibility of training up their children in the ways of the Lord. DGs are merely to confirm and perhaps expand upon the instruction and teaching that has already gone on and is continuing within the family.
