Serve with outreach team

9:00am-12:00pm | 3rd Saturday of each month | Starting and ending in Concord

Join our regular outreach teams to meet with the homeless in Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Martinez.

You are welcome to join whether you're branch new to this form of outreach or have experience elsewhere.

What do we do?

  • We provide food, clothing and hygiene items, pray for and get to know those we meet, and understand their situations.
  • We look for and create opportunities to share the gospel with them, and disciple those who claim to be believers.
  • We always aim to pray with those we meet, often sharing the gospel in the course of our prayers.
  • We go out in teams of 3 or 4. Currently this is only open to guys due to safety concerns.
  • We start and end our times together in the Weiss house in Concord. Please contact Toby or Rebekah Weiss for more information (or see the 'NCC Homeless Ministry' group)

Make and donate sandwiches or other snacks

Drop off Friday evenings or Saturday mornings  | Weiss house in Concord

If you know how to make sandwiches, and desire to glorify God and serve others by preparing some and providing them for our outreach team to hand out to the hungry homeless near our church, then this is for you!  Join us before the outreach to make sandwiches or drop off pre-made food.  Details:

  • We need 30 simple sandwiches each time.
  • Sandwiches must be individually wrapped.
  • Examples include: Peanut butter and jelly, turkey or ham with mustard and mayo, sliced cheese and lettuce
  • Cookies and fruit are always welcome also!

Blessing Bags

Blessing bags are a simple but effective way to provide for some immediate food and hygiene needs of homeless people. They are an achievable and repeatable way of practically demonstrating God's love to those in need, providing an opening to sharing the gospel, prayer and relationship building. Blessing bags can be prepared ahead of time, and carried in a car or backpack ready to be handed out when an opportunity presents itself.

There are no rules about what blessing bags should contain but following are some suggestions. (Non-perishable items are recommended for long term storage.)

  • Gallon size Ziploc (for the bags themselves - airtight and water proof)
  • Gospel tract
  • A drink (such as: bottled water, chocolate milk box, fruit juice packet)
  • Granola or protein bar
  • Packet of nuts, trail-mix and/or dried fruit
  • Tuna salad with crackers snack box (good protein)
  • Small can of fruit with pull-top lid
  • Socks (large, thick)
  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant stick
  • Facial wipes
  • Soap
  • Tissues
  • Female hygiene products

Suggested stores for bulk purchases are Costco and Target
