The purpose of Small Groups is to accomplish the following:
Affection- A community time of true Christian fellowship, caring for one another with the many considerations of life. The aim of the relationships formed in this group is to dive beneath the surface and share our hopes, desires, motivations, and fears.
Application- A deliberate time of soul work, challenging one another towards godliness. This time is to go beyond intellectual queries and apply biblical truths to heart problems.
Accountability- A transparent time of vulnerable communication, seeking one another for counsel and aid in areas of failure. The group is intended to be a place where weaknesses of the heart can be strengthened and encouragement can be found to fight idols of our hearts.
This is not another teaching time but an opportunity to be open with other believers about your life. There are multiple opportunities a week to be fed the Word of God which range from pulpit preaching, Bible classes, and dialogue teaching. What our small groups are attempting to provide is a practical outlet to all this Bible knowledge. It is a means to assimilate the truth into our lives so that we might be faithful stewards of the Word which God has entrusted to us.
