Ignite is the ministry of NorthCreek Church to high school students. In Ignite, we want to help raise up students who will love, serve, and follow Jesus Christ all the days of their lives. We disciple students by creating contexts for them to hear the truth from God’s Word, learn from older believers in the church, and lay down their lives in service and evangelism. We would love to get to know you and walk with you through your high school years. We pray that it will be just the beginning of a lifelong walk with Christ and His people.
Ignite Winter Retreat
We are excited to announce that we will be having a Winter Retreat for Ignite, January 7-9, at Heavenly Hills Christian Camp. Heavenly Hills is located just east of Twain Harte at 4,000 ft in the Sierras. Our goal in going to Heavenly Hills is to get near some snow!
Our theme for camp will be “Why This Body? - Male, Female, and God’s Design for the Whole Person.” One of the first and most foundational truths expressed in Scripture is that God created mankind male and female (Gen 1:27). There is pervasive confusion in our culture surrounding this truth. Even for those in the Church, this cultural confusion can lead to personal confusion, misconceptions, misdirection, disappointment, disillusionment, and pain. So, what does the Creator actually have to say to us and about us as men and women? We will use God’s Word to answer these questions, so our students can be equipped to navigate these issues themselves and help others who are struggling or lost.
*When: Departing Friday, January 7 at 3:30 PM and returning Sunday, January 9 at 2 PM
*Accommodations: Dormitory style with bunks
*Food: Students need to bring money to purchase dinner on Friday and lunch on Sunday. All other meals will be included.
Come join us at Winter Retreat as we talk and think through this powerful and important topic, enjoy some fun together, and hopefully play in some snow!
Students meet in grade specific small groups to provide opportunity for fellowship, prayer, and discipleship. (Ephesians 4:11-17; Acts 2:42)
Discipleship Groups (DGs) are the primary way we, at NorthCreek Church, help our high school students to grow spiritually. DGs are a place where students can encourage and motivate one another, as well as study the Word of God with a caring adult. Each DG consists of eight to twelve students and one or two godly adult leaders.
What Does Commitment to a DG Look Like?
- Grow spiritually by taking the "next step" of discipleship.
- Develop spiritually deeper friendships with the other students in your DG.
- Experience acceptance, affirmations, and accountability.
- Learn how to apply biblical truth to your daily life in a caring and
- Establish a discipleship relationship with godly, caring adult leaders.
- See the power of prayer in your life and the lives of others.
When/where do DGs meet?
DGs meet every Wednesday at 7PM from September to mid-May on the NCC campus. We meet in our Large Group format once a month, and Sammy Barton, Director of Student Ministries, delivers the teaching on a specific topic. DGs do not meet around major holidays or school breaks.

A note from Sammy regarding the merits of Broomball: There are few experiences in life that can compare with sliding around on an ice rink in your tennis shoes and trying to hit a ball into a hockey net with a large rubber paddle. There is also nothing on earth that brings out my competitive side quite so much as this specific activity. Broomball in student ministries is a tradition unlike any other. Come one, come all, and compete to write your name on the coveted Stanley Broom!
Street EvangelismDate: First Friday of every monthTime: 6:30 - 8:00 PMLocation: In front of Macy's at Broadway Plaza
Clear Lake is our weeklong summer camp in the great outdoors at Clear Lake in Lucerne/Nice. The students will be sitting under the teaching of the Word, fellowshipping in their small groups, swimming, boating, and sleeping under the stars. 2022 dates TBD.
Purpose: Since it has become difficult to solely rely upon emails for communication, we are now utilizing the Remind texting system for communication. Emails will still be sent with weekly updates, but Remind makes it easier to keep you informed. Parents and/or students will receive a text invitation for Remind a few days after completing the Annual Permission Form or DG Registration. Once you are in our database we can easily sent you a text. This system also keeps record of our communication with your students, thereby ensuring their safety.
Practice: Remind is very helpful for sending a text message to parents with an ETA when we are returning on a bus. It is also very helpful if the Director wants to host a last minute dodgeball game on campus that night. Last minute updates or reminders for DGs, Equipping Classes, tech team, and worship team are easily communicated and seen, unlike the last minute email that most people do not see. Email Jen if you have any questions.
